Going Organic
Many of you know that I spent 3 years in Siberia (Barnaul, Russia) Enjoying the cold, and hating the heat, however short it was ~ well riddled with mosquitos too! Most of us here are so used to the in’s and out’s of our diets known as “Chemicals” as my wife, Tanya, calls them. “Chemicals” are anything added to food, drink, or anything edible. Though “Chemicals” make stuff last unreasonably longer and preserve flavor, what are they doing to us in the long run? GOSH!…It’s a good question to ask yourself. There are more syndromes, disorders, and unexplained illnesses in this country than many other that I have been to. Have you noticed the push at the grocery recently for foods without preservatives, “organic” foods with no “chemicals”… I gotta say that we do our best to stay away from “chemicals” and believe me, living for 3 years without them made a HUGE difference in the way I felt, I could go into detail, but I would love you all to remain fond of me:) Either way, it’s always a good reminder to aim for a healthy goal…give up something you know is not good for you… I mean HEY!!!! I gave up Dr. Pepper and if you knew me before I left, you’d think it was impossible ~ can’t stand the stuff now!
Remember, look at the list of ingredients of what you buy, if it looks like a paragraph, that’s your cue to leave it be! As my friend Patsy Partin says “…shop the outer walls of the grocery store where the whole foods are mostly”. My little tidbit is, if you can’t look at it and tell what’s in it without reading the ingredients…you most CERTAINLY don’t need it.
Happy Eating!
